I've been playing pinball for as long as I can remember. My Dad had pinball machines in his custard shop when I was too young to play, and that must have been my first Contact with pinball. The most prized game I have is a baseball machine called Short Stop that my Dad actually played as a kid. It came out of an old restaurant in Madison (WI) called Red & White burgers (where you could buy a burger for 10 cents, the same price as one play on this game). I even remember playing it as a kid, so it had to be there a long time!
I never realized back then that someday I would have the opportunity to own a real pinball machine. I thoroughly enjoy restoring games back to their original glory - what a great hobby!
After many years of lessons from his brother, Tim is currently ranked very high in the World Pinball Rankings, and is the 2016 State Champion in Wisconsin. He is also known to set all his games to 5 ball, although no one has really done that since about 1977.
Tim was also assessed as "The second best pinball player in the world" by a local pinball expert (in a book written about his life). His brother Todd received similar acclaim, but he was proclaimed "The best pinball player in the world".
After entering several pinball tournaments, Laura is currently ranked among the best Women players in the world, according to the World Pinball Rankings. Laura does still feel she could improve on her Captain Fantastic score during the 2011 pinball expo tournament.
As of January 2017, Laura also currently holds the high score on our Metallica pinball, but by the time you read this that information may no longer be accurate.
She constantly asks to "play pinball in the basement" as she strives to improve her skills for future competition. She prefers classic electro-mechanical pinball chimes to newer solid state sounds, and is patienty waiting for her dream pinball theme...Frozen.
